Welcome our new SPS Principals!

Candace Myrick, Principal, Oakland Elementary
Ms. Myrick served as the Assistant Principal at Creekside Elementary from 2017 - 2019 and at Mack Benn, Jr. Elementary School from 2019 - 2020. She received her Bachelor of Science in Business Education from Norfolk State University, her Master's of Business in Business Administration from Liberty University and her Master's of Arts in Educational Leadership from Hampton University.

Kristal Taylor, Principal, Hillpoint Elementary
Ms. Taylor served as the Assistant Principal of Mack Benn, Jr. Elementary School for one year. She also served as the Assistant Principal of Elephant's Fork Elementary for one year. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Norfolk State University, her Master's of Education in a Master Teacher Program from Regent University, and became a Specialist in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University.

Bernette Brock, Principal, Booker T. Washington Elementary
Ms. Brock served as the Assistant Principal of Booker T. Washington Elementary for two years. She also has combined experience as both a Principal and Assistant Principal, having served in the Norfolk Public School District for ten years. Brock received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Norfolk State University, her Master's of Arts in Administration and Supervision from Norfolk State University, and her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Virginia Tech.

Shalise Taylor, Assistant Principal, Mack Benn, Jr. Elementary
Ms. Taylor served as the Supervisor of Science at the School Administrative Office for two years. Taylor received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Old Dominion University, her Master's of Arts in Curriculum Instruction from Liberty University, her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, and earned the title of Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

Leticia Rouse, Assistant Principal, Booker T. Washington Elementary
Ms. Rousse served as the Academic Coach at Creekside Elementary for two years. She has also devoted her time as a teacher for the past 12 years. Rouse received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Norfolk State University and her Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University.

Lauren Barrett, Assistant Principal, Elephant's Fork Elementary
Ms. Barrett served as a teacher at Nansemond Parkway Elementary School for six years. She held the position of Math Coach at Elephant's Fork Elementary for one year, as well as Dean of Students, also at Elephant's Fork Elementary for one year. Barrett received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Longwood University and her Master's of Education in Administration and Supervision also from Longwood University.

Robert Casteen, Dean of Students, Elephant's Fork Elementary

Mr. Casteen served as a teacher in the Chesterfield School District for four years, and as a teacher with Suffolk Public Schools at King's Fork High School for five years. Casteen received his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Old Dominion University and his Master's of Education in Educational Leadership from Regent University.

Tonya Spruill, Dean of Students, College and Career Academy at Pruden
Ms. Spruill served as a teacher at Lakeland High School for four years. She also served as the Grad Coach at Lakeland High School for four years. Spruill received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Norfolk State University and her Master's of Education in Practical Theology from Regent Univerity. She earned the title of Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from Virginia Tech and received her Doctorate of Theology from Kingdom Life Bible Institute.

Additional administrative changes are as follows:

Elementary
Elementary Mrs. Tamesha Dabney-Principal of Oakland Elementary School will be leaving Suffolk Public Schools to become the Principal of Culpeper Elementary School. 

Mrs. Catherine Pichon-Principal of Hillpoint Elementary School will be transferred to serve as Principal of King's Fork Middle School. 

Mrs. Chanel Woods-Principal of Booker T. Washington Elementary School will be transferred to serve as Principal of John F. Kennedy Middle School.

Middle
Mrs. Dana Bilby-Assistant Principal of Colonel Fred Cherry will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal at John F. Kennedy Middle School. 

Mr. Melvin Bradshaw-Principal of Forest Glen Middle School will be transferred to serve as Community Engagement Facilitator for Suffolk Public Schools.

Mr. Roosevelt Brown-Assistant Principal of King's Fork Middle School will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal at Colonel Fred Cherry Middle School. 

Mrs. Marie Bullock-Assistant Principal of John F. Kennedy Middle School will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal at Lakeland High School.

Dr. Shawn Green-Principal of Colonel Fred Cherry Middle School will be transferred to serve as Principal of Nansemond River High School. 

Ms. Jennifer Presson-Principal of King's Fork Middle School will be transferred to serve as Principal of Forest Glen Middle School.

Mr. Bryan Thrift-Principal of John F. Kennedy Middle School is leaving Suffolk Public Schools to become the Principal of Smithfield High School in Isle of Wight. 

Mrs. Gwendolyn Williams-Assistant Principal of Forest Glen Middle School will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal of Hillpoint Elementary School.

High 
Mr. Vershawn Eley-Assistant Principal of King's Fork High School will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal of King's Fork Middle School. 

Mr. Dan O'Leary-Principal of Nansemond River High School will be transferred to serve as Principal of Colonel Fred Cherry Middle School.

Mr. Shaka Miller-Assistant Principal of Nansemond River will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal of King's Fork High School. 

Mr. Michael Milteer-Assistant Principal of the College and Career Academy at Pruden will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal at Forest Glen Middle School. 

Mrs. Tina Paul-Assistant Principal of Lakeland High School will be transferred to serve as Assistant Principal at Nansemond River High School. 

Mr. Aston Williams-Dean of Students at Lakeland High School will be transferred to serve as Dean of Students at Nansemond River High School.
